Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea Cycle; thought provoking and deeply insightful

When I read the Wizard of Earthsea, I wasn't even a proper teenager. I'd heard of this awesome magical world with a Magic School far better than Hogwarts.  I was a preteen, with very little understanding of the real world, of temptations, of power etc. This is not just fantasy: its fantasy mixed with life philosophy and value education. No words I say can convey effectively what I really mean to express: just read to understand. 1. The Wizard Of Earthsea                                     : Download ePub 2. The Works Of J.R.R Tolkien (Including The Hobbit, The Lord Of The Rings, The Silmarilion and other writings)

There are few authors who could stake claim to changing human civilization drastically. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien can claim it without doubt. I can wax lyrical for hours and hours about this man's genius. From constructing new worlds for his characters to live in, making up the most believable story of creation ever, giving us midget heroes in hobbits to love and adore, constructing artificial languages for his imaginary creatures to speak, giving them thousands of years of history, Tolkien will always be, in my opinion, one of history's greatest value educators. Full of values, enduring human values like love, compassion, mercy, fortitude, courage, forgiveness, bravery and an entire dictionary's worth of good adjectives. As a person who had seen, experienced and fought in a war, Tolkien took his own losses, horrors and fears and gave them to us in a way that we can...

Climb The Faraway Tree With Me!! (ePub downloads)

Image
Enid Blyton's best known magical adventure series is all about a very special tree, THE FARAWAY TREE. Thousands of children have climbed the Faraway Tree, ever since Enchanted Wood was published in 1939. Our protagonists are Jo, Bessie and Fanny, around the ages 8-12: their father's gotten a new job in the countryside, and they're excited to live in the country.                  And what do you think they find?? As is obvious from the title of the first book, they very conveniently get a home just beside an enchanted wood (often wish I did). For a few days, they remain apprehensive about entering the mysterious looking wood, but finally their curiosity leads them to wisdom, and they seize their opportunity.      Reading about their wonderful friendships and thrilling adventures brightened my childhood. (I've already read The Folk of The Faraway Tree 4 times already, and am willing to read it again) If you're one of the old guar...

Enid Blyton's Famous Five: Funnily her most famous book series!! (ePub downloads)

Image
The Famous Five are Enid Blyton's greatest and most famous creations. The first book, Five on a Treasure Island, was published in 1942. Like all of her works, this series is also a timeless classic, and has appealed to at least 3 generations of children. If you read it today in 2020, it will still have its original appeal. The times may be different, the technology archaic, but the beauty of the world, and the freedom which the protagonists possess inculcate a love of freedom in the reader. Some concepts might seem weird, but remember these were written more than half a century ago, in a time when cigarette smoking was thought to steady the nerves and when drinking-n-driving was the norm. The books also follow a floating timeline, which means that years pass by without much ageing on the part of the characters. The books feature Julian and his younger siblings Dick and Anne, and their cousin Georgina (who hates her name and wants to be called George). The animal companion for th...

Artemis Fowl: Free epub ebooks featuring the greatest pre-teen criminal mastermind

Image
Artemis Fowl is a series of 8 books featuring preteen genius and criminal mastermind, Artemis Fowl II. They were written by Eoin Colfer. The first book was published in 2001. They feature a cast of lovable characters and humorous situations. The books feature fairies, dwarfs, gnomes, pixies and all fairytale characters known to man, but with an added twist. There is technology, quick thinking and a display of Fowl's genius level intellect. In my opinion, Artemis Fowl would win the award for the smartest fictional character of all time, or at least feature in the top ten.                 Artemis' bodyguard Butler, Butler's sister Juliet, lead fairy/heroine Holly Short, kleptomaniac Mulch Diggums, always angry commander Julius Root and tech geek/centaur Foaly will make you fall in love with this brilliantly crafted new world. If you want to be amazed, read on!! 1. Artemis Fowl - Download epub   2. The Arctic Incident  Download...
