Enid Blyton created so many groups (or troupes) of young children that it is sometimes difficult to remember which is which. But one fact which cannot be disregarded is that they are all unique. The Secret Series features five books, featuring Peggy, Nora, Mike and Jack. 


Peggy and her younger siblings, Mike and Nora, live with their uncle and aunt. Their parents' have been lost, presumed dead. They are ill treated, and forced to work all the time. They befriend a farm boy living in the neighbourhood, an orphan named Jack, and here begins a tale of such adventure and thrill that one can't help jumping up and wishing to be in their places. Our heroes are a lot less dependant on their elders than most others. They decide to take matters into their own hands, and run away !!!
The first book is mostly full of their adventures in staying cut off from the world, and how they live a self sufficient life. Living on their own isn't as easy as everyone thinks it is, and winter brings with it greater suffering. They almost get caught once or twice, but in the end it all comes along nicely.
The next book features a different setting. Where the first book was all about the outdoors, the second one is focused inwards. Secret passages and mystery kidnappings, along with a dash of royalty, ensures that the second book is as much fun as the first. They also meet a new friend.
The third book features a different continent altogether. The children go to Africa to rescue *** (telling you who might be a spoiler). Exotic adventures and mysterious red haired tribals are the prime stars of the third book.
A visit to Eastern Europe is the focus of The Secret of Killimooin. Forest caves, secret meetings and hidden passages culminate into out heroes getting caught, and the fury of nature is also a prominent theme.
The final adventure is set on home soil, with Moon Castle playing host to a wonderful adventure. Eerie happenings and weird sounds make this book a joy to read.

A latter day 'Hardy Boys' type of series, the 3 Investigators are Bob Andrews,Pete Crenshaw and Jupiter Jones. They are actually official and have a secret headquarters located in Jupiter's Uncle's junkyard (or as Jupiter calls it,  SALVAGE YARD ). Growing up, I adored Jupiter's thinking, Pete's athleticism and sarcasm, and Bob's quiet hardworking nature. These guys motivated me a lot in my childhood.
